What is the Schleuse?
The Schleuse is a program between your text and a cloud AI. It replaces names, identifiers and credentials with stand-in words. It translates the AI's answer back on your side.
Who is the Schleuse for?
For everyone who works with texts full of names and numbers. For example office work, energy and farming, law firms, medical practices, municipalities, construction and software development.
Does the cloud AI see my real data?
It should only see stand-in words. But no detection is perfect. A small remainder can be left over. That is why the Schleuse checks before sending. When in doubt, nothing is sent.
What happens to the AI's answer?
The answer contains the stand-in words. On your side the key translates them back. A round-trip test checks that exactly the original comes out.
Does my text keep its meaning?
Yes, as far as possible. The Schleuse uses stand-in words with meaning, for example “Energy supplier Alpha”. Amounts, dates and quantities stay unchanged.
Does the Schleuse find all secrets?
No. No program can promise that. The Schleuse uses several stages and checks the rest. A small remainder remains possible.
What does the zone traffic light mean?
Green is not critical. Yellow goes only through the Schleuse to targets you have approved. Red is highly secret and never goes to the cloud. Blue is professional secrets and also never goes to the cloud.
Which files can the Schleuse read?
Text, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument as well as images and scans. It does not handle audio or video yet.
Do I have to use a specific AI?
No. You decide which AI services may receive something. The relay server for developers is built as an experiment and is not in everyday use yet.
Is this legally safe?
We do not give legal advice. Legally we treat the method as pseudonymisation. Our evidence is technical and not a certificate. A review by third parties is still to come.
How far along is the Schleuse?
Version 0.1 Alpha. So far tested only with made-up examples, mainly texts and documents. A separate test series for code, configuration files and logs is still to come.
Does it also work with English texts?
So far we have measured German texts only. There is no measurement for other languages yet.
What does the Schleuse cost?
There is no price yet. We are looking for pilot partners and learn with them. Talk to us.
Where does the computing happen?
Detection runs on your own equipment, not in the cloud. The key stays there too.
